This was the view from my back yard last night. Areas about 40-50 miles north of where I live got 7-8 inches of rain in the span of an hour or so.

There were some great light shows last night. I heard that I-90 in Minnesota actually had to get closed down due to flooding.

Living in Florida, I should have an entire catalog of lightning photos, but I don’t; though it’s not for lack of trying. I really only have pics from one night three years ago. I got really lucky that night. The lightning was arcing right over my house, but I was in no danger of being struck. The neighbors’ flood light was off and the moon wasn’t out. It was beautiful. I may lost the original files, so right now, I just have the compressed JPGs I saved from Facebook.

The originals may have been lost to divorce. Someone thought it would be a good idea to delete several hundred gigs worth of my files, including thousands of pictures, from my external hard drive that she stole. A word of advice... should you ever sense a relationship is going south, make a copy of your digital life and give it to a friend or family member to hold on to for you. Thankfully, I’ll never have that problem again as Lady SonicGabe is the one I should have ended up with years ago.

Anyway.... be safe when taking lightning pics. Always be aware of changing conditions. If you have a bad feeling about it, then just bail. There will always be more lightning.
